Teaching Philosophy
My education path was unconventional. My teaching philosophy illustrates my techniques and viewpoints.
When I reflect on my educational journey, I am often reminded of a quote by Benjamin Franklin: “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” The most memorable teachers I have had over time have involved students in the learning process and have tailored their approach to the vast needs of each of these students.
Like so many other high school students, upon graduation, I immediately enrolled into a state university. My eagerness for life experience took precedence as I realized during this time that I wanted to pursue a career prior to completing my undergraduate studies. Over the course of a decade, I cultivated a career, plateauing in my position and identifying a void for knowledge. I enrolled in an undergraduate program to accelerate my career and completed the four-year program in person while gathering the confidence to complete my graduate studies online.
My path to higher education is unique as will be my teaching style. Each student will have their own needs, expectations, eagerness, and qualities. In respect to how my previous educators have specialized their approach to each student, I too will be able to identify and assist each student in their own way. Embracing each student and their needs is paramount to their own success.
As a professor, it will be my responsibility to nurture each student as their own and adapt to their learning styles. I will craft a curriculum that will integrate each learning style, while incorporating my own life experience to make the content relatable and relevant.
